In an act of pure optimism, I went out looking for the sun this particular morning, even though I knew it was likely to be cloudy. I never got a brilliant sunrise, but a few rays did sneak below the overcast long enough to light up these clouds over the Athabasca northeast of Jasper. This was, unfortunately, both the first and last light of the day, which quickly became dark and miserable -- we even got some fresh snow on the mountaintops.
